If your state has no income tax, VUSXX is unlikely to offer a superior after-tax yield for you. Recently, VUSXX's yield has been higher than the yield of VMFXX although this is not always the case.

 
VMFXX, because even though the interest earned isn't 100% state tax exempt, the current forward annual yield of 4.21% (as of 12/27/22) off sets the taxes I pay. I don't live in CA or NY either.
